Tocos do Moji is one of the youngest cities of Minas Gerais (became a municipality in 1997). However, it’s all well cared, clean, tree-lined, a square in the middle (with WI FI) the parish church at the end, up high and a very welcoming, humble and happy people.
The town’s name derives from the word not touch (wood) but the Greek word TOKOS, meaning “action to conceive,” that is, where the river Mogi or Moji is born, where it is emerge. And the correct pronunciation of the name is Tócos do Moji and not Tocos do Moji as it may seem ( in Portuguese the symbol above the letter “o” turn it in an open sound, the city name is without de symbol but the pronunciation might be like if were).
