The various chimneys filling the city skyline belong to a hundred potteries and other small factories that little resemble the ancient past of Rio das Conchas, its translation into Tupi (indigenous language), who lived the exploitation of sugarcane.
In the coffee phase Tambaú took advantage of the opportunities and then changed monoculture, exporting its quality coffee for everyone by Mogiana railroad. The Portuguese and Italians who came to work in the fields soon capitalized and became the pioneers of ceramic industries.
Today Tambaú has the highest production of the country tiles. Father Donizete Tavares de Lima, idely regarded as a holy man, devotees still hope his canonization. THE PATH OF FAITH gives back to Tambaú part of the tour that existed in decades past.
