ABOUT THE CITY

City of Wonderful Twilights, beautiful São João da Boa Vista, founded on June 21, 1821 by Antonio Machado de Oliveira and his brothers in-laws, coming from Itajubá, city of Minas Gerais, reaching the region to day eve that marked the cult of St. John the Baptist, which gave rise to the name of the city. However, because the city has been initiated on the grounds of the farm Boa Vista, owned by Father John Ramalho, just received the supplement “Boa Vista”.

In 24 APRIL 1880, São João received the political emancipation and was elevated to municipality.

Within its large territory emerged the cities of Aguaí, Vargem Grande do Sul and of course Águas da Prata, the cradle of THE PATH OF FAITH. The reason of the ” Wonderful twilight ” as it is known, are the mountains around, which give the horizon its characteristic beauty.
