ABOUT THE CITY

The railroad was the Porto Ferreira development factor, because the city lies between the old great Ribeirao Preto to coffee plantations and the harbor of Santos. But the city was not born of the railroad.

The side of the tracks runs the vigorous Mogi Guacu that was so wide that you could only cross it with the aid of a ferry. The charge for this task remained the ferryman João Inácio Ferreira, who was the crossing of everything and everyone from one side to the other; with time the Porto (harbor) be known by his last name.

Nowadays with almost 50 thousand inhabitants, the power train of the city is the famous ceramics, which with its beauty enchants all visitors.
