Everything came up when, in 1909, the state government of Minas Gerais to the Union donated 810 hectares of land for the establishment of an agricultural colony for foreigners. The pioneers, set on the banks of the river Mogi Guacu, attracted by the gold of the Gerais, were the first inhabitants of the region where it Inconfidentes. It was agriculture, however, and no more mining, the activity that got the best results.
The cultivation of the soil formed the economic basis of Mogi-Acima town, former name of Inconfidentes. The land for farming, expropriated by the state, were donated to the federal government to keep that place an agricultural colony – Ouro Fino Colonial Center – where foreign settlers would be the majority. The current name was given in the first decade of the twentieth century, in honor of the heroes of the Minas Conspiracy, especially Alvarenga Peixoto, former owner of a farm in the region.
